Brian E. Shunk, P.E. is a transportation engineer/planner with 35+ years of experience in both the private and public sectors spanning a broad range of transportation projects encompassing multiple travel modes. Currently, Brian is a Strategic Development and Implementation Technical Manager with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he assists with the development of the PennDOT PAthways initiative and the Major Bridge P3 program. He serves as the lead engineer and project manager for the development of PennDOT’s new geometric design manual update to incorporate a context driven/flexible design philosophy. Additionally, he is the project manager for the development and implementation of PennDOT’s Risk Management for Project Development, and PennDOT’s upcoming Project Manager Training. Brian is a graduate of Florida Institute of Technology with both a BS and MS in Civil Engineering; is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Florida; and is a member of the AASHTO Joint Technical Committee on Non‐Motorized Transportation.
