About me
Matthew Alboum, PE, is an Associate and Regional Human Resources Manager in Dewberry’s Bloomfield, NJ office. His technical experience includes many years as a structural bridge engineer where he focused on traditional bridge design, accelerated bridge construction (ABC), retaining wall design, analysis and modeling, construction services, and performing in-depth constructability analysis working for clients such as the New Jersey Department of Transportation and New Jersey Turnpike Authority. He also spent years working as a project manager with experience in scheduling, quality management, financial management, team building, and negotiations. It was through his time working as an engineer and assistant department manager and his passion for working with people that led him to a career transition. In his role as an HR manager role his focus is on employee relations, employee development, career planning, career pathing, mentorship, retention strategies, morale and engagement strategies, corporate strategic initiatives, diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, and partnering with Management to solve complex problems. He is an active member in ACECNJ, ACECNY, ASCE, and SHRM. He is also on the planning committee for the NJSPE Engineering Career Day which exposes hundreds of high school students to the benefits of a career in engineering, and is actively involved in and leading Dewberry’s mentorship initiatives. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New Jersey and New York and holds a BS in Civil Engineering from University of Buffalo; an MS in Civil Engineering from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; and an MS in Engineering Management from Clarkson University.
